Ankeny First has annually planned a Disaster Recovery Adult Mission Trip at the end of April for the past ten years. The team travels in the church vans and usually stays in churches at their destination. A variety of different types of recovery work have been done including hurricane recovery in Mississippi, flood recovery in Cedar Rapids and Illinois, tornado recovery in Joplin, MO and Pilger, NE, and even day trips for floods and tornados closer to home.
Our teams are made up of ten to twenty team members with varied skills. You develop a close relationship with other church members working so closely together and doing God's work for those who need your listening ear, prayers and helping hands recovering from their disaster. If interested consider, "The body of Christ has many different parts, but when we act in Christ's name, serving with others, we become the living hands and feet of Christ working to rebuild homes and lives."
