  • Meals in Mission Volunteers at Trinity UMC

    August and September Dates!

Our congregation volunteers with the Children & Family Urban Movement (CFUM) to provide meals at the Trinity Las Americas Methodist Church twice a month (1st Wednesday and 4th Tuesday). Since the pandemic, we have continued to prepare the meals and deliver them to Trinity. Once delivered, the volunteers from CFUM set up tables outside and distribute the meals to the families. They have found they need more help and would like to enlist two to three volunteers from our church.

The dates they need help with include: Wednesday, August 5; Tuesday, August 25; Wednesday, September 2; and Tuesday, September 22. Volunteers need to bring their own masks, but gloves will be provided when they arrive at 4:00pm and should plan on staying until 5:45pm. Tables are set up outside to provide as much safety as possible. Volunteers will place food containers and other food rescue items (bread, fruits & veg, etc.) in sacks and hand them to the families. While all the volunteers will have masks and gloves, be aware that not all the people we serve will have masks (it is encouraged they should wear masks). Volunteers will help spacing out lines of people to maintain 6 feet of social distancing.

  • Helping Local Agencies

Bidwell, Impact, YMCA Housing, Sunny View

Impact Ankeny and Bidwell Riverside continue to be inundated to keep food on their shelves for their clients. They desperately need food and personal care items. If you'd like to donate items, but need help getting them to the church, contact the church office (515.964.4249) and we'll send someone to pick up your items. Both agencies would also appreciate financial donations.

The YMCA Supportive Housing Campus needs assistance, too. They are having a deodorant drive in July. Bring donations to the Uptown site and place in marked red bins.

Give some encouragement and love to the 78 Sunny View residents missing their families by sending cards and letters. The cards can be dropped off at the brown card table in the front foyer at Sunny View to the attention of “Michelle In Activities.” The recipient of the note can be addressed as: A Sunny View Resident or Dear Sunny View Friend. Sunny View would also appreciate donations of bird feeders and hanging flower baskets so the residents have something pretty to look at thru their windows.

    Bright Beginnings Preschool

Our August focus will be helping Bright Beginnings Preschool. The preschool plans to use the collected funds for getting supplies to help keep the teachers and children safe during the pandemic. Additionally they would like to use the funds to update supplies and manipulative materials in their classrooms, as well as, updated equipment for their courtyard playground area and gross motor equipment. To learn more about Bright Beginnings Preschool, visit their website here. Please give monetarily by writing “August Mission of the Month” in your check memo, or give online (

  • Senior Connection and Home Communion

    Volunteers Needed!

We celebrate communion with our church family on the first Sunday of every month. Have you ever stopped to consider those in our church family who can no longer make it to church for some reason? The Christian Care Cluster has launched the Senior Connection Ministry Team to offer visits and Communion to those who can’t be with us. Sharing some time and this holy sacrament in their homes is a wonderful way to extend Christ’s table and to include them in the life of the church. If you know someone who would benefit from a visit, or if you’d like to be a part of this team, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Group volunteering has been canceled for the month of June. The pantry is also still limited to 6-8 volunteers at a time. If you would still like to volunteer, please let This email address is being protected from spambots. Stock grocery shelves
Weed and maintain the flower beds and garden

The church is always in need of skilled labor to help our buildings and grounds remain safe, clean, and maintained. If you have experience (professional or DIY), this is a great opportunity for you to be in service with your church family so that we can focus on the ministry that happens every day at our facilities.
